Marketing and Commercial

Aerial stills and video for hotels, campsites, attractions and farms diversifying into tourism, built for a website, a brochure or a paid campaign rather than a listing.

Aerial photograph of a coastal hotel and its grounds, shot for use in marketing and brochure material

Marketing photography has a different job to a property listing. Nobody is deciding whether to buy the building, they are deciding whether to spend a day, a weekend or a holiday there, and the image has to do more of the persuading on its own.

This covers hotels and holiday accommodation, campsites and glamping sites, visitor attractions, and farms and rural businesses diversifying into tourism, food or events. In every case the aerial view is doing a specific job: showing scale, showing setting, showing the thing a ground level photograph cannot, how close the beach actually is, how much space a site has, how a farm's fields and buildings sit together.

Video usually earns its place here more than anywhere else in the business. A slow pass over a site, cut to a short clip, is often stronger for a social campaign than any single still.

What is included

  • Wide setting shots showing scale and proximity to the coast, a town or an attraction
  • Detail shots of the features a campaign actually wants to sell
  • 6K video cut to short clips suited to a website or a social campaign
  • Seasonal and time-of-day shoots where light changes the image
  • Editing and colour grading before delivery
  • A licence to use every image and clip across your own marketing

Selling a place rather than a building

A hotel, a campsite or an attraction is selling an experience, and the aerial shot that works best is usually the one that shows the setting rather than the buildings themselves: how close the sea actually is, how much space a pitch has around it, how a farm shop or a diversification project sits within a working farm.

That framing decides where the aircraft flies from and at what height. Too tight and the image reads like a property listing. Too wide and it loses the detail a campaign needs, a hot tub, a fire pit, a specific pitch, so the brief conversation is where most of this gets decided before anyone leaves the ground.

Farm diversification

A working farm moving into glamping, events or a farm shop faces a specific marketing problem: the thing being sold, a field, a barn conversion, a new venue space, often does not look like much from the farm gate. From the air the same field reads as a pitch with a view, the same barn reads as a venue with real grounds around it.

These shoots often need a working knowledge of what is actually going on across a site, livestock, machinery, other business activity, which is where a construction and rural background helps plan a flight that gets the shot without getting in anyone's way.

On the day

How a marketing and commercial runs

  1. Step 1

    The brief

What the campaign needs to show and where it will run, a website, a brochure, a paid social campaign. That decides the mix of stills and video.

  2. Step 2

    Site and airspace check

Checked before the booking is confirmed, including anything specific to a working site, guests, livestock, other business activity.

  3. Step 3

    The flight

A planned set of passes covering the agreed shots, timed for light and season where that has been asked for.

  4. Step 4

    The edit

Stills graded and cropped, video cut to a usable length, delivered within 48 hours in formats sized for web and for print.

Behind the work

Kit, cover and qualifications

CAA registered

Operator ID and Flyer ID held, plus the A2 Certificate of Competency. Every flight is planned to the rules that apply to the site, and the paperwork is available before the visit if your agent, venue or planning team wants it.

100 megapixel camera

A DJI Mavic 4 Pro with a Hasselblad camera and 6K video. The resolution is what lets a still be cropped hard for a brochure detail shot and still hold together on a large screen or in print.

Edited and licensed

Images are colour graded and cropped before delivery, not sent raw off the card. Every set comes with a licence for your own use, so you are not paying again to put the photograph in a listing or a campaign.

Insured with Coverdrone

Full commercial cover for the operation. Certificates go to agents, venues and marketing teams as a matter of course, without anyone having to chase for them.

Marketing and Commercial questions

Can you shoot across a season, not just once?
Yes. A number of marketing bookings return through the year, a site in summer looks different to the same site in autumn, and campaigns are often built around that change.
Do you shoot video as well as stills for this kind of work?
Usually, yes. Marketing work leans on video more than a straightforward property listing does, and both come from the same flight without booking a separate visit.
Can you fly over livestock or a working farm safely?
It is planned around it. The flight path and height are worked out with the working site in mind, and where livestock or activity on the day make a particular angle unsuitable, that gets flagged rather than flown regardless.
